Huacaya Alpaca

The Huacaya alpaca is the most common type and is the most popular worldwide. This alpaca has a dense, woolly coat that looks fluffy. The coat of the Huacaya is shorter and less shiny than that of the Suri, but it is very soft and good for producing high-quality wool.

Suri Alpaca

The Suri alpaca has a longer, silky soft coat that falls straight and smooth instead of curling like the Huacaya. The coat of the Suri alpaca is shiny and can grow in long locks. Suri alpacas generally have a more graceful and elegant appearance due to their hanging, long coat.

Regular grooming and occasional trims are essential to maintaining the smooth and flowing quality of their fibers.
